Pune, 30 March 2021: Teachers from Nowrosjee Wadia college have threatened an agitation if the colleges failed to submit their promotion proposals under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

Few of the teachers who are eligible for the promotion under CAS were approved by the varsity, but their colleges have failed to submit their proposals.

Pune University Teachers Association (PUTA) head SM Rathod said, “Out of 11 teachers due for promotion under CAS, Nowrosjee Wadia college sent proposals of only five teachers, while the proposals of remaining six are not sent. Among them, a few are due for retirement.”

SPPU conducted the interviews of the teachers to help them get various benefits under the CAS programme as per the directives received from the Higher Education department. Similarly, the varsity directed the college to submit the proposals of the teachers who were eligible for CAS.

However, a few educational institutes have purposely not sent the proposals alleged by the teachers association. Meanwhile, the institutes feel that the entire procedure implemented by SPPU is wrong. Yet varsity went ahead and completed the procedure.

The teachers’ association has also told about it to the Higher and Technical Education minister Uday Samant.
