Pimpri Chinchwad, 30 March 2021: “I believe that the empowerment of today’s women is because we had women like Queen of Jhansi, Dr Anandibai Joshi, Savitribai Phule, Jijau who made a path for us”, said the winner of Yashaswini award, ayurvedacharya Dr Vaishali Lodha.

She was speaking with the news portal Punekar News regarding various topics concerning the social, physical, mental health of women.

Dr Lodha said, “Today, the women are strong and a majority of them are aware of their rights. I feel now they should take one step ahead and should discharge their duties too”.

She says, “No man or woman is complete. Both of them are complementary to each other and thus women empowerment does not mean a silent war against men. It means moving further with hands-in hands”.

Family first

Sharing that it was son Deven and husband Pavan who support her in every step, she said, “the inspiration to form Om Namo Parivaratan group came while interacting with my patients. The majority of them being women I realise that these women have huge potentials yet, they have not found a way out. They needed little awareness and a platform to showcase their talent.

Similarly, they needed guidance regarding issues concerning puberty, menopause, diabetes and various other health problems”, she explains. There I thought of starting this group which was earlier limited to just a few members. But later it had a chain like effect. It has hundreds of members who seek guidance from me and each other”, she tells with a smile.

Every time it is not possible to address the similar issues of the patients one on one. Here, the group comes as a rescue as I can talk about it on that platform”, she said. We not only seek guidance, but it is a platform for women to showcase their skills.

“I have a few patients who need to follow a strict Ayurveda diet, but it is not easily available in the market. So few of my group ladies showed the willingness to provide the food to these patients”, she tells with a beam.

Activity hub for children

Along with the women, I have also formed the ‘Om Namo Activity Hub‘ for the overall development of the children. These days children are glued to mobile screens, their physical activity has reduced down. Similarly, they are moving away from the culture. Here, at this club we not only celebrate our festivals and follow traditions, but also inculcate reading habits, oratory skills and other skills”, she states.

Ayurveda teaches how to lead a life

“This way they get a chance to earn money”, she informs adding that the Covid -19 pandemic yet again underlines the fact that precaution is better than cure. Ayurveda is all about that. It encourages you to adopt a healthy lifestyle, instead of taking medicines to fight against the disease”.

Pranayam, yoga is a way to lead a better life. It instils positivity in one’s mind. It makes you physically, mentally, socially and culturally a better person”, she expresses.

Ayurveda vs Allopathy

“I think any pathy is there for the betterment of life. I find the argument between any pathy is not useful. Surgery has been mentioned in Sushrut Sanhita, thus it is meaningless to say that Ayurveda doctors cannot perform surgery”, informs Dr Vaishali.
