Pune: Tender For Generation Of 100 KW Electricity; Proceedings Of PMC As Per Order Of ‘NGT’

Pune, 18th August 2022: Solar energy will be generated on the roof of the waste treatment plant in Uruli Devachi and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has planned to generate 100 kilowatts of energy on the roof. The electricity generated through this will be used for street lights and other works for which a tender process will be conducted. It is expected to cost Rs 55 lakh. This action will be taken by the Municipal Corporation as per the order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

A petition has been filed in the National Green Tribunal regarding wasteland at Uruli Devachi. During the hearing of a petition in this regard, the National Green Tribunal ordered the Municipal Corporation to give a bond of Rs 2 crore.

 

Sewers have been constructed by the Municipal Corporation to carry the leachate generated from the waste as per the order of the Tribunal. Also, tree plantation has been done on the premises of the wasteland.

 

In the next phase, it is planned to generate solar energy on the roofs of waste treatment plants. For this, a tender process of Rs 55 lakh will be conducted by the Municipal Corporation. This electricity will be used for street lights, weighing scale, pump house motor, and CCTV system.

 

In case of excess power generation, the sale of power is also under consideration. It has been claimed by the solid waste management department of the municipal corporation that the municipal corporation will get some income and the cost of electricity required for processing plants in the wasteland will also be reduced.
