Pune: Three Acres Of Sugarcane Burnt Due To Short Circuit; Loss Of Nearly Rs 2 Lakh

Indapur, 27th October 2022: Three acres of sugarcane belonging to farmers Kalyan Kadam and Devidas Kadam of Indapur taluka were burnt due to a fire caused by a short circuit on the pole supplying electricity to Rohitra. Due to this, the farmers have lost millions of rupees. The fire has been extinguished with the help of villagers and the fire brigade department and the farmers have demanded immediate compensation from the administration.

 

According to the information, a sudden short circuit on the power supply pole to Rohitra on the embankment of the farm caused a sudden short circuit on Thursday (October 27) afternoon at around 12.30 pm, and the sugarcane in the field of Survey No 45 on the felling caught fire.

 

Out of 10 acres, three acres of sugarcane were completely burnt. Villagers and farmers extinguished the fire and saved seven acres of sugarcane. Farmers have lost approximately Rs 1.5 – 2 lakhs. Farmers said that the electricity distribution company is responsible for this.

 

Two vehicles of the fire brigade on behalf of Karmayogi Shankaraoji Patil Cooperative Factory and Indapur Nagar Parishad immediately reached the spot.

 

Kalyan Kadam, Devidas Kadam, Shubham Kadam and other village farmers have demanded that the burnt sugarcane factory department should conduct a survey and get compensation from the administration.
