Pune: Three PMC Officers Dismissed From Service For Submitting Fake Documents During Recruitment

Pune, 20th June 2023: Three junior engineers working at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have been dismissed following allegations of defrauding the civic body. The revelation of their involvement in submitting fake experience certificates has sparked panic among employees and officials within the organisation.

The decisive action was taken by Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binawade, who ordered the immediate dismissal of the accused officers.

There was a ban on recruitment of employees in Municipal Corporations in the state. After the ban was lifted by the state government, the recruitment in Pune Municipal Corporation started for the first time. Recruitment started as Junior Engineer in Municipal Corporation. However, the corporation soon received complaints about the authenticity of the certificates presented by some of the newly appointed employees.

To investigate these allegations, an inquiry committee comprising three officials was promptly assembled. The committee examined the documents of 50 newly appointed individuals who had been recruited as junior engineers, ultimately compiling a comprehensive report. This report was subsequently submitted to Commissioner Vikram Kumar.

Upon reviewing the findings of the inquiry committee, Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binwade acted decisively by ordering the immediate dismissal of the three junior engineers implicated in the fraudulent activity. The investigation revealed that these officers had secured their positions by submitting falsified proof of experience.

With 150 vacancies still available for the position of Junior Engineer in the Pune Municipal Corporation, Commissioner Vikram Kumar has assured the public that the recruitment process will proceed as planned.
