Pune, 20th June 2023: In a bid to address the persisting traffic congestion on the Pune-Solapur highway for the next 25 years, a comprehensive plan for the construction of a four-tier double-decker flyover, complete with a metro line between Hadapsar (Ravidarshan) and Uruli Kanchan (Khedekar Mala), has been finalised. The proposed plan has been forwarded to the Ministry of National Highways for final approval.

Dr. Amol Kolhe, the Member of Parliament representing Shirur constituency, recently announced during a gathering in Loni Kalbhor that an impressive sum of Rs. 30 thousand crore has been allocated for various highway projects in the Shirur Lok Sabha constituency over the past four years.

Similar to the Pune-Solapur highway, construction work on a four-lane double-decker flyover, along with an approved metro line connecting Chandannagar and Shikrapur, is scheduled to commence in the coming days. Dr. Kolhe expressed his confidence that these upcoming projects, namely the flyover between Ravidarshan and Uruli Kanchan, as well as the one between Chandannagar and Shikrapur, will effectively eliminate the traffic congestion on both routes, bringing lasting relief to commuters.

The officials provided updates on the ongoing infrastructure projects during a meeting organised by the Shirur-Haveli assembly constituency, in the Loni Kalbhor Gram Panchayat area of Haveli taluka, attended by Dr. Amol Kolhe and MLA Ashok Pawar. Dr. Kolhe highlighted the progress made on major ventures such as the Pune-Nagar and Nashik Highways, as well as the Pune-Nashik High-Speed Railway, which are set to greatly benefit the public.

Efforts to alleviate the traffic gridlock on the Pune-Solapur highway have seen productive discussions between National Highway Authority officials, collectors, land acquisition officers, and other relevant stakeholders over the past few days. A significant number of objections regarding land acquisition have been successfully resolved, paving the way for the forthcoming developments.

Dr Kolhe assured the public that he has been actively engaged in following up with the authorities in Delhi, and a final meeting will be convened soon to kick-start the construction work once the road plan receives approval.
