Pune : Three Women From Uganda Arrested For Allegedly Running Sex Racket In Sangvi, Case Registered

Pune 19th August 2023: The Crime Branch Unit of Pimpri Chinchwad Police has arrested three women from Uganda for allegedly running a sex racket in the Sangvi area and forcing another foreign national from their country into prostitution. A case in this regard has been registered at Sangvi Police Station.

According to the complaint registered with police, the accused had forced a woman into prostitution and they were operating from a private flat. The crime branch officials, after receiving information, raided the place and rescued the foreign national. According to police, one of the accused involved in the crime was responsible for making the flat available while the other two were coordinating with customers.

It was also found during the investigation that one of the accused was staying in India despite her Visa period getting ove. The police have booked the accused under sections 370 (3) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with sections 3, 4, 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Act (Prevention) and section 14 of the Foreigners Act. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
