Pune: Three Youths From Karnataka Who Stole Mobile Phones During Ganeshotsav Arrested; 84 Mobiles Seized From Them

Pune, 3rd September 2022: Sinhagad police arrested a gang of thieves from Karnataka who came to steal mobile phones in the crowd during Ganeshotsav. 84 mobile sets worth Rs 15 lakh 25 thousand have been seized from the thieves. The investigation has revealed that a gang of thieves stole mobile sets from citizens in crowded places in the city.

The names of the arrested are Sharath Manjunath (21), Kesava Lingaraju (24), and Naveen Hanumanthappa (19), all residents of Bhadravati, Shimoga, Karnataka. Devotees from different parts of the state come for darshan during Ganeshotsav. Sharath, Keshava, had come to the new city to steal mobiles during the festival period.

 

For the last ten days, they had stolen mobile sets from citizens from crowded places including Market Yard, Balajinagar, Swargate PMPML station, Abhiruchi area on Sinhagad road, and Vadgaon Bhaji Mandai area.

Patrolling policemen Deva Chavan, Rahul Olekar, and Shivaji Kshirsagar received the information that a gang of mobile thieves stopped near Fun Time Cinema on Sinhagad road. After that, the police team laid a trap and detained the three.

 

The bag held by Sharath, and Keshwa was examined, and then 84 mobile sets were seized from both. Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Rajendra Dahale, Deputy Commissioner Pournima Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner Sunil Pawar, Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Sankhe, Crime Branch Inspector Pramod Waghmare, Sachin Nikam, Aba Uttekar, Sanjay Shinde, Shankar Kumbhar, Amit Bodare, etc. carried out this operation.
