Pune to Get New Bi-Weekly Express Train Connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai

Pune, 20 December 2025: Pune will be directly connected by a new bi-weekly express train between SMVT Bengaluru and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Mumbai, improving long-distance rail connectivity via the city.
The new service will operate as Train No. 16553 SMVT Bengaluru–Lokmanya Tilak Express and Train No. 16554 Lokmanya Tilak–SMVT Bengaluru Express. The train will pass through Pune, with scheduled halts in both directions.
Train No. 16553 will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 20.35 hrs and arrive at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 20.40 hrs the next day. En route, it will reach Pune at 16.55 hrs, with a scheduled halt until 17.00 hrs. In the return direction, Train No. 16554 will depart Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 23.15 hrs and arrive at SMVT Bengaluru at 22.30 hrs the following day, stopping at Pune between 03.05 hrs and 03.10 hrs.
The Bengaluru–LTT service will run on Saturdays and Tuesdays, while the LTT–Bengaluru service will operate on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Apart from Pune, the train will have commercial stoppages at Davangere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Miraj, Sangli, Karad, Satara, Lonand, Lonavla, Karjat, Kalyan and Thane.
The express will be equipped with 17 LHB coaches, including reserved, sleeper and air-conditioned classes. Watering and crew change facilities will be provided at Hubballi, Miraj and Pune.
With Pune included as a key halt, the new bi-weekly express is expected to enhance rail connectivity between Maharashtra, Karnataka and Mumbai’s suburban network.
