Pune to Host Twin Events as PM Modi Launches Rs 2,400-Crore Employment Incentive Under PM-VBRY
Pune, 18th June 2026: Pune will join a nationwide celebration of employment generation on Friday as two regional events are scheduled in the city under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), a flagship employment-linked incentive scheme of the Government of India.
The events coincide with the national PM-VBRY programme to be held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will disburse incentives worth approximately ₹2,400 crore to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the incentive disbursement is expected to support additional employment for more than 15 lakh people across the country.
In Pune, the Regional Office at Akurdi will organise a local programme at the Quality Circle of Excellence in Bhosari. Around 100 employers and 250 employees are expected to participate. Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge and Pimpri Chinchwad Mayor Ravi Landge are expected to attend the event.
Simultaneously, the Regional Office at Hinjawadi will host another programme at JSPM Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering in Tathawade. Member of the Legislative Council Uma Khapre and MLC Amit Gorkhe are expected to grace the occasion.
All events will be held simultaneously at 4 pm.

Officials from the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), the Labour Department, and business and employers’ associations are also expected to participate in the Pune events.
The proceedings of the main event in New Delhi will be broadcast live at both venues, enabling local employers, employees and stakeholders to witness the Prime Minister’s address and interact virtually with the nationwide initiative.
The national event is expected to draw around 1,200 participants at Vigyan Bhawan, including employer and employee beneficiaries from across the country. Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje will also be present.
As part of the nationwide outreach programme, simultaneous events will be organised at 200 locations across India, with participation from governors, chief ministers, Union ministers, state ministers, legislators and mayors.
An estimated 65,000 to 70,000 people are expected to participate in the events nationwide, including nearly 9,000 employer representatives and around 45,000 employees.
Launched as a flagship employment-linked incentive scheme, PM-VBRY aims to encourage formal employment and support job creation. Under the programme, first-time employees are eligible to receive up to one month’s wage, capped at ₹15,000, while employers receive incentives for generating additional employment for up to two years. The incentive period extends to four years for the manufacturing sector.
With a total outlay of ₹99,446 crore, the scheme aims to generate more than 3.5 crore jobs between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027, including nearly 1.92 crore first-time workers.
The scheme’s benefits are disbursed through DBT, with the government aiming to expand social security coverage, formalise the workforce and promote sustainable employment growth across the country.
