Pune, 17th January 2025: “India is blessed with natural beauty, historical landmarks, and a heritage of religious sites. The country is home to many extraordinary natural wonders and has huge potential as a tourist destination. Tourists should explore the diverse domestic tourist spots. The Ministry of Tourism is encouraging this initiative by promoting and developing innovative tourist locations,” said Gauri Apte, a senior official from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. She also expressed hope that the rock carvings in Konkan should be developed as a tourist destination.

This festival, showcasing the rich tourism heritage of Maharashtra and India, provides information on various forts, historical sites, and lesser-known locations. Nearly 50 tourist companies offering both domestic and international travel options have set up stalls. The festival aims to inspire travel enthusiasts and promote Maharashtra tourism. It will remain open to the public for free until Sunday (19th). Hourly lucky draws and three grand lucky draws per day are also planned during the event.

Shama Pawar remarked, “We travel worldwide, but if we don’t know the forts and heritage sites of our own Maharashtra, it’s unjust. Maharashtra has a rich tourism legacy. However, many locations haven’t reached the public’s knowledge, or travel facilities to these places are unavailable. It’s essential to popularize such locations and establish the necessary infrastructure. The government is also taking initiatives in this regard.”

Pravin Ghorpade delivered the welcome address, while Prathamesh Kulkarni gave the opening remarks. Sarang Bhide hosted the event, and Chandan Pathare proposed the vote of thanks.
