Pune, June 27, 2020: A traffic policewoman in Sakalnagar was fined Rs 500 today for not wearing a helmet while driving a two-wheeler. The complaint was filed by a twitter user, Mandar Pramod Dixit, who tweeted, “Who will take action against these awakened Punekars? Is helmet compulsory only for ordinary citizens?”

He then attached the picture of the traffic police official riding a Honda Activa and tagged @PuneCityTraffic  @CPPuneCityFollowing this, the @PuneCityTraffic handle immediately took action and posted an E-challan receipt for Rs 500 which was issued to the owner of the two-wheeler. This does not stop here. Punekars reacted to this with the typical Puneri sarcasm.

A user replied, “Mandar, sir, it would have been better if you had taken a photo of how aware you are”.

Another user said, “Mandar, there is still a lot of illegal activity going on in Pune. If you are very vigilant, take photos of the place, but time is not running out, so instead of wasting time taking photos on the streets, try to take action by taking photos of people who aren’t following preventive measures of COVID-19”.

“Everyone should follow the rules, be it an ordinary citizen or a police officer! The expectation is that the same action should be taken against the employees of all government departments who break the rules as the action is taken against the common citizens for breaking the rules”, replied Mandar.
