Pune: Traffic Diversion at Katraj Chowk Begins Amid Flyover Construction
Katraj, 3rd December 2024: Significant traffic diversions have been implemented at Katraj Chowk starting Tuesday due to ongoing flyover construction. The changes, announced by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende, include rerouting ST, PMPML, and private buses, with restrictions on heavy vehicles to ease congestion in the area.
The work involves segmental launching for the flyover, necessitating temporary traffic modifications until further notice. Authorities have urged drivers to use alternative routes and avoid Katraj Chowk for smoother travel.
Key Traffic Changes:
From Satara via Old Katraj Ghat: Heavy vehicles will be halted at Shindewadi Bridge.
From Satara Road via New Tunnel: Entry to Navale Bridge Chowk will be restricted.
From Mumbai via Navale Pul: Vehicles will be blocked at Navale Bridge Chowk.
From Saswad to Katraj: Restricted near Khadi Machine Chowk.
From Bopdev Ghat: Vehicles will be diverted from ISKCON Mandir Chowk.
From Swargate to Katraj: Access from Mantarwadi, Undri, and Pisoli will be allowed only between 10 pm and 4 am.
All vehicle types will be restricted at ISKCON Mandir Chowk on Katraj-Kondhwa Road.
For Public Transport:
ST and Private Buses:
Buses from Mumbai to Katraj via Warje and Navale Bridge will be diverted.
Buses from Satara to Swargate must reroute via Navale Bridge to Katraj and then proceed to Swargate.
PMPML Buses: Routes passing through Katraj Chowk will follow alternative paths to minimize disruptions.
Residents of Mangdewadi, Dattawadi, and Handewadi areas are advised to avoid the route and use alternate roads for travel to Swargate or other destinations.
DCP Zende emphasized that the traffic changes are temporary and will remain in place until further notice. Commuters are requested to cooperate and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
