Pune: Traffic Diversion For Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration
Pune, 13th April 2023: In honor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, which is celebrated on April 14, the traffic routes in the Collectorate area of Pune will be changed. This is due to the large number of followers of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar who come to pay their respects at the statue near Sassoon Hospital.
On Friday, April 14, the traffic going from Shaheer Amar Sheikh Chowk (Juna Bazaar) in Mangalwar Peth to Maldhakka Chowk will be diverted through Shaheer Amar Chowk. Vehicles going from Shaheer Amar Sheikh Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk will proceed via RTO Chowk, Jahangir Hospital Chowk.
Traffic going from GPO Chowk to Bolhai Mata Chowk will be diverted via an alternate route. Vehicles going from GPO Chowk to Bolhai Mata Chowk as well as Maldhakka Chowk will proceed via Kirad Chowk, Nehru Memorial Chowk.
Traffic going from Pune Station Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk will be diverted through Narpatgiri Chowk. Motorists should proceed to the desired destination via Pune Station, Alankar Cinema. Traffic going from Narpatgiri Chowk in Somwar Peth to Maldhakka Chowk will be diverted through Narpatgiri Chowk. Motorists should proceed via Narpatgiri Chowk, 15 August Chowk, Kamala Nehru Hospital, Pavle Chowk, Kumbharves Chowk.
Traffic going from Banerjee Chowk (Mahesh Lunch home) to Shaheer Amar Sheikh Chowk will be diverted. From Banerjee Chowk, motorists should go to their desired destination via Power House Chowk, Narpatgiri Chowk, 15th August Chowk, Kamla Nehru Hospital, and Pawle Chowk.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vijay Kumar Magar has informed that the traffic diversion in the Collector office area will remain in effect until the crowd subsides. Parking arrangements have been made for the followers at RTO Office, SSPMS Maidan, Pune Station at Tukaram Shinde Bus Stand, and Sassoon Colony.
In addition to the changes in the Collectorate area, there will also be changes in the traffic routes in Camp and Vishrantwadi areas. A large crowd of followers gathers near Arora Towers in Camp to pay their respects to the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
As a procession will be taken out from the Vishrantwadi Chowk area, motorists are requested to use alternative routes.
Furthermore, changes have been made in the traffic routes in the Dandekar Bridge area till the congestion subsides. This is due to the celebrations taking place on the evening of Thursday, April 13, in honor of Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti.
