Pune Traffic Police App Now Accepts Double Parking, Corner Parking Complaints; Over 4,000 Violations Reported in 40 Days
Pune, 24th July 2025: Citizens in Pune can now report double parking and corner parking violations directly through the official PTP TrafficCop mobile application. The Pune City Traffic Police recently expanded the app’s features to address rising complaints regarding improper vehicle parking, aiming to further streamline traffic enforcement and citizen participation.
The app, available on both Android and iOS platforms, has seen a significant surge in public usage. Between June 13 and July 22, 2025, a total of 4,071 complaints were submitted via the app, indicating growing civic involvement in traffic regulation.
Data Shows High Success Rate in Enforcement
According to the Pune City Traffic Branch, out of the 4,071 reports submitted during this 40-day window:
3,101 challans were successfully issued.
930 complaints were rejected due to insufficient or unclear evidence.
40 cases remain under review.
In June alone, 1,319 violations were reported, resulting in 951 challans and 368 rejections. In July, citizen reports have remained consistent, with July 22 recording the highest single-day volume at 218 complaints (143 challans, 35 rejections, 40 pending). July 12 followed closely with 181 complaints and 148 challans issued.
The overall success rate stands at 76%, reflecting effective use of digital reporting. The rejection rate of 23% was largely attributed to blurry images or incomplete evidence provided by users.
App Expands Role in Smart Traffic Governance
The PTP TrafficCop app enables citizens to report various violations including:
Illegal and obstructive parking
Triple-seat riding
Using mobile phones while driving
Driving on the wrong side
Entry of heavy vehicles in restricted zones
And now, double and corner parking
Each complaint is reviewed within 48 hours by the traffic department. If validated, an e-challan is issued to the violator, and the complainant’s identity remains confidential.
The app also allows users to report non-traffic hazards such as:
Potholes
Waterlogging
Fallen trees
Oil spills
Abandoned vehicles
Road accidents
These complaints are routed to relevant civic departments, ensuring quicker response and resolution.
Top Officials Acknowledge Public Support
Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Manoj Patil, said the increased reporting reflects a shift in public behavior. “There is clearly growing awareness and responsibility among Pune residents. The PTP app is helping us multiply our enforcement eyes on the road,” he said.
He further added, “We encourage responsible use of the app. Each valid complaint makes the city’s roads safer. Based on the feedback, we are exploring additional features and broader integration of AI tools to analyze patterns and optimize traffic management.”
Launched by Deputy CM to Foster Community Involvement
The PTP TrafficCop app was officially launched by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at Vidhan Bhavan in June 2025. Developed by Pune Police, the app is part of the city’s larger effort to embrace tech-based community policing and involve citizens directly in improving urban traffic conditions.
Only Eligible Users Can Report
Only individuals with no pending traffic challans are allowed to file complaints through the app. Users must upload clear photos or videos of violations, which are then verified by the traffic branch.
