Pune: Traffic Restrictions Announced for Marathon at Sinhagad Fort on 14-15 December; Check Alternate Routes Below
Pune, 14th November 2024: A marathon event organized by Simple Steps Fitness is scheduled to take place at Sinhagad Fort on 14-15 December, leading to full traffic closures in the area to prevent congestion. District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has issued an order for the traffic restrictions to ensure safety and smooth operations during the event.
According to the Pune Rural Police, around 400 runners, along with guides, volunteers, and spectators, are expected to gather in large numbers. Given the anticipated foot traffic along the Sinhagad Ghat road, the authorities have decided to completely close the route and redirect vehicles to alternate roads.
On December 14 and 15, traffic from Haveli Police Station to Golewadi Ghat Road and Khed-Shivapur will be fully restricted. Commuters are advised to take alternative routes via the New Katraj Tunnel to Khed Shivapur, then through Donje-Khadakwasala-Vadgaon Dhairi. Additionally, traffic from the Rajgad Police Station area, extending from Kondhanpur to Sinhagad Fort and Golewadi via Ghat Road, will also be restricted.
Dr. Diwase clarified that vehicles heading to Donje village or Golewadi can use the Vadgaon-Dhairi route via Khadakwasla Donje or the Khed Shivapur-Shindevadi route through the New Katraj Tunnel. Vehicles providing essential services are exempt from these restrictions.
