Pune, 1st April 2026: Commuters travelling to and from Hinjewadi are likely to face traffic disruptions on Thursday as police have announced a series of road closures and diversions for the Bagad procession dedicated to the local deity Mhatoba.

Police said the annual event is expected to attract a large turnout of devotees, which could lead to congestion across key stretches in Hinjewadi, Wakad and parts of Sangvi. Traffic restrictions will come into force from 11 am and remain in place through the day. Emergency vehicles, however, will be exempted.

According to officials, vehicular movement will be restricted on several major routes, including stretches between Tata T- Junction and Wakad Naka, Geometric Circle and Wakad Naka, as well as Shivaji Chowk to Bhumkar Chowk.

Commuters have been advised to use alternate routes via Laxmi Chowk, Bhumkar Chowk, Wakad Gaothan and Wakad overbridge to avoid delays.
Restrictions will also be in place on roads connecting Indian Oil Chowk, Vinode Vasti and Hinjewadi village, along with key junctions near the Sayaji underpass. Police have suggested diversions through Shivaji Chowk and interior roads in Wakad village for smoother movement.

In the Wakad area, multiple internal roads linking Kaspate Vasti, Mankar Chowk and Wakad Gaon will remain closed. Similarly, traffic curbs will be enforced on routes near Datta Mandir Road, Sayaji underpass and Wakad Y junction.
In the Sangvi jurisdiction, traffic movement between Dattamandir Chowk and Pimple Gurav Kaman will also be restricted due to a similar separate procession.

Authorities have urged commuters to plan their travel in advance and follow diversions to avoid inconvenience.
