Pune Traffic Routes: Diversions on August 26–27 for Ganesh Idol Purchases and Installations
Pune, 25th August 2025: In view of the expected rush for Pranpratishtha (idol installation) ceremonies and Ganesh idol purchases, traffic arrangements in Pune will be altered on Tuesday (August 26) and Wednesday (August 27). The changes will impact key routes including Dengle Bridge, Chhatrapati Shivaji Road in the city center, Sarasbaug, and the Keshavnagar area in Mundhwa.
At Dengle Bridge in Shivajinagar, Ganesh idol stalls have been set up, and traffic will be regulated on both days. On Chhatrapati Shivaji Road, the stretch from Gadgil Statue Chowk to Gotiram Bhayya Chowk in Mandai will remain closed to vehicles. Motorists are advised to use the alternate route via Santaji Ghorpade Path, Kumbharves Chowk, and Shahiri Amar Sheikh Chowk in Mangalwar Peth.
Traffic coming from Jhansi Rani Statue Chowk and Khude Chowk on Jangli Maharaj Road towards Kumbharwada should take a left from Chhatrapati Shivaji Bridge and proceed via Santaji Ghorpade Path to reach Kumbharves.
In the Sarasbaug area, parking of all vehicles will be prohibited between Swatantraveer Savarkar Statue Chowk and Samadhan Bhel Center. Citizens are advised to park near Mitra Mandal Chowk–Patil Plaza stretch or near Neelayam Cinema, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch) Himmat Jadhav.
For the Pranpratishtha ceremony on Wednesday (August 27), traffic diversions will be implemented in central Pune. Chhatrapati Shivaji Road will remain closed, along with stretches from Phadke Haud Chowk in Kasba Peth to Jijamata Chowk, Futka Buruj, Appa Balwant Chowk to Hutatma Chowk (Budhwar Chowk), Moti Chowk, and the road in front of Mangala Cinema.
In Keshavnagar, Mundhwa, heavy crowds are expected for idol purchases. Traffic restrictions will be enforced on Tuesday (August 26), with diversions planned through alternate routes.
