Pune: Traffic Stopped For 20 Minutes Due To Blast At Chandni Chowk

Pune, 3rd October 2022: After the demolition of the old bridge in Chandni Chowk, the road there has been widened to some extent resulting in the citizens who get stuck in the traffic jam every day having breathed a sigh of relief.

 

But the next day (October 3) in the afternoon, the driver once again had to face the traffic jam as another blasting was done at 1.00 pm on Monday to break the remaining rocks in Chandni Chowk resulting in the citizens getting stuck in a dilemma for one to two hours.

 

The demolition of the bridge was expected to add to the traffic jam in Pune from Saturday (October 1) from midnight to Sunday (October 2). The traffic diverted through the alternative route and was running smoothly from Saturday night till Sunday. The effect of the traffic jam was precisely low on Sunday. Therefore, it was possible that this picture will be seen on Monday as well.

But as announced by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the traffic on the highway was stopped for 20 minutes and the blast was carried out. Due to this, the vehicles coming from Mumbai were stuck on the highway till Rachan Lake from Satara to Mumbai, the traffic was stopped till Warje Malwadi.

 

Due to this, drivers on both sides had to wait on the road for one to two hours. Meanwhile, After demolishing the bridge at Chandni Chowk, the widening of the road has reduced traffic congestion. However, vehicles are still moving slowly through Chandni Chowk. Traffic is likely to continue at a relatively slow pace till the work on the remaining lanes and service roads is completed.

It is seen that citizens passing through the highway, after seeing the traffic jam on the highway at Chelaram Hospital in Pashan Lake, Bavdhan, tried to take the vehicles in the opposite direction from the highway in a dangerous manner.

 

Not only two-wheelers, but drivers of vehicles like rickshaws, cars, tempos, and mini-buses were in a situation where the vehicles were turned back to the opposite journey and had a life-threatening journey.
