Pune: PMC Appeals To Citizens Not To Cut Branches Of Kanchan Tree On Occasion Of Dussehra
Pune, 3rd October 2022: On the occasion of Dussehra, the branches of the Kanchan tree are cut as ‘gold’, which is one of the rituals celebrated in the country. It is seen that this particular activity is causing damage to the environment.
Therefore, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has appealed to the citizens to not cut the branches of the Kanchan tree in an unauthorised manner. To prevent such incidents, PMC has kept a watch on those who are cutting the branches.
Also, if citizens notice that someone is cutting branches, they should contact the officials of the Ward Office of the Municipal Corporation or the Tree Authority.
PMC Garden Superintendent Ashok Ghorpade informed through a letter that the contact numbers for the departments are available on the website of the PMC.
