Pune: Two Burglars Apprehended, One Kilogram of Gold Seized by Mahalunge Police
Chakan, 14th January 2024: The Mahalunge Police, under Pimpri Chinchwad police, have successfully arrested two individuals involved in a string of house burglaries across different areas.
The arrests were made on January 2, when the investigative team intercepted one of the suspects, Amir Shabbir Shaikh, on the two-wheeler. Subsequently, the police detained the second accomplice, Sohail Shafiq Pathan.
The police have confiscated a substantial amount of stolen goods, totalling Rs 45 lakh 33 thousand four hundred. This includes a significant amount of gold, with one kilogram, seven tolas, and two grams recovered from the arrested individuals. The loot also comprised cash and other valuable items.
The arrests have brought to light a spree of eighteen crimes committed by the accused in various police station jurisdictions. The duo’s criminal activities spanned across Yelawadi, Sadumbare, Induri, Talegaon Dabhade, Moshi, Chakan, and Chikhali areas within the limits of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
The accused, as revealed in their confession, meticulously planned their burglaries. They would scout the targeted bungalows, observing for signs of vacancy such as locked doors and switched-off lights. Exploiting the vulnerability at the back of the bungalows, they would cut window frames to gain access and carry out their thefts.
The operation leading to the arrests was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Shinde, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doifode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Gaur.
The Mahalunge Police Station Senior Police Inspector Vasant Babar, along with other law enforcement personnel, played a crucial role in bringing the perpetrators to justice. The seized assets, including the two-wheeler used in the crimes, were recovered as a result of the collaborative efforts of the police team.
