Pune: Two Imposters Arrested For Extorting Money Posing As Senior Police Officer

Pune, December 16, 2020: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly extorting money of Rs 10 lakhs from a person by posing as senior police officers.

 

The accused are identified as Mohammad Ali Mehndi Ganji, Abbas Ganji, and Ali Akbar Mehndi Ganji. Two separate cases of ransom and obstruction of government work have been registered against them. According to police, the victim bought a bungalow in the Peth area on Thursday. Meanwhile, the trio went to his place and threatened him by saying “if you want to stay here, you have to pay Rs 10 lakh, otherwise we will not allow you to stay here. You can’t do anything to us” and demanded ransom stating that they are senior police officials.

 

The complainant called the control room and informed them about the incident. Immediately the control room informed Khadak police. Khadak police immediately rushed to the spot and arrested Mohammad Ali Mehndi Ganji and Ali Akbar Mehndi Ganji. Further investigation is underway at Khadak police station.
