Pune: Two Kalyani Nagar Restaurants Charged For Loud Music And Late-Night Operations
Kalyani Nagar, 7th December 2024: In Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, two restaurants – Cuckoo and Oi Brew – have once again been charged for operating beyond the permitted hours and playing loud music. Nearly 80 people were present at the venues combined, with sound systems in full swing. Consequently, a case has been registered against the owners of both restaurants at Yerawada Police Station. Police Constable Praveen Khatmode lodged the complaint.
On Thursday night (5th December), police conducted a raid on a restaurant in Kalyani Nagar and discovered that a sound system was being operated without a permit. At the time of the raid, 48 people were found inside the establishment. As a result, a case was registered against the hotel owner and manager.
In another raid on a different restaurant in Kalyani Nagar, police found 25 to 30 people present and took action against the establishment for remaining open late and illegally operating a sound system.
Following the Kalyani Nagar hit-and-run case, the issue of restaurants and pubs operating past legal hours in Pune gained attention. This led to actions by Pune Police and the Maharashtra State Excise Department, resulting in the closure of over 20 pubs. However, it appears that the restaurant and pub culture in Kalyani Nagar has resumed within a short period.
Residents of Kalyani Nagar have frequently complained about establishments staying open late, causing disturbances. Despite police actions, such incidents continue to occur, particularly in this area, affecting the quality of life for residents.
