Pune: Two Mumbai Tourists Drowned In Lonavala, One Survived

Lonavla, 9th July 2023: Two tourists from Mumbai lost their lives after drowning in the mine water in Varsoli village near Lonavla city.

The victims have been identified as Priyank Panchand Vora (35 years old, resident of Powai, Mumbai) and Vijay Subhash Yadav (35 years old, resident of Ghatkopar, Mumbai). Priyank, Vijay, and their friends had visited the Lonavala area on Saturday, July 8, for tourism. In Varsoli village near Lonavala town, there is a mine containing water.

Around 7 PM, Priyank, Vijay, and Genia Viagas entered the mine water. Unfortunately, their footing slipped on a stone, leading to the tragic drowning of all three individuals. Their friends witnessed the drowning incident and immediately raised an alarm.

Local villagers rescued the three individuals from the water. Medical examination revealed that Priyank and Vijay succumbed to drowning caused by water entering their nostrils. The authorities informed their respective families about the unfortunate incident. Following the post-mortem examination, the bodies of Priyank and Vijay were handed over to their relatives.

The Lonavala police have registered a case of accidental death in connection with this incident. Police Naik Kishore Pawar is investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Kishore Dhumal.
