Pune: Two ST Buses Collide Head-On Near Mulshi Dam; 10–12 Passengers Injured
Mulshi, 29th August 2025: A major road accident occurred on Friday morning near Mulshi Dam on the Pune–Kolad road when two Maharashtra State Transport (ST) buses collided head-on at Chachivli village, Mulshi taluka. The incident took place around 8:30 am.
The collision involved a Chinchwad–Khed bus heading towards Konkan and a Shriwardhan–Beed bus traveling towards Pune. Due to the impact, around 10–15 passengers, including both drivers, sustained minor injuries and were immediately rushed for medical treatment. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported so far.
Local authorities noted that this stretch of the Pune–Kolad road is particularly accident-prone. The narrow two-lane road winds along the Mulshi Dam reservoir, with sharp turns, a lack of side barriers, overgrown vegetation, and blind spots that reduce visibility. As a result, even slight misjudgments by drivers can lead to serious accidents.
Villagers pointed out that traffic congestion worsens on weekends due to heavy tourist inflow to Mulshi and the Tamhini ghat. They have long demanded road widening from Palase to Warak, Chachivli, Tamhini, Sarole, Nive, Dongarwadi, and Adarwadi to ensure safer travel.
Rescue operations were delayed as the area has poor mobile connectivity, making communication difficult. On receiving information, the revenue department, police, health officials, and Mulshi disaster management teams rushed to the spot. Ambulances from Male Primary Health Centre and Paud Rural Hospital were deployed, and the injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Paud Rural Hospital.
