Pune: Two U14 footballers selected to train with leading German club FC Bayern Munich
Pune, 8th March 2023: Two U14 footballers – Yayem Bohlem and Liepa Walim – staying at Ishwarpuram Hostel, a home to North Eastern Indians, and studying at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Boys Military School, Phulgoan will be heading to Germany to train with world renowned club FC Bayern Munich at their campus.
The duo hails from Nagaland.
The duo will be part of a 20-member U-14 team from Maharashtra, which will train with the renowned German club. The training is part of an agreement between the Maharashtra government’s sports department and FC Bayern Munich.
Selection trials and competition ‘Maharashtra Cup 2023’ was conducted in different parts of Maharashtra. In Pune, the selection trials and the competition was held in four different zones, where U14 footballers, representing different schools participated.
Bohlem and Walim were scouted in the selection trials by FC Bayern coaches, informed Vineet Kuber, Chairman, Ishwarpuram Hostel.
Four students from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Boys Military School and 16 students supported by Ishwarpuram Hostel, participated in the selection trials, which began from February 11, 2023 and recently concluded. The two selected students will head to Germany in May 2023.
