Pune: Two Women Arrested For Stealing Under Pretext Of Buying In Jewellery Shop

Pune, 6th June 2022: Dattawadi police station have arrested two women for stealing jewelery under the pretext of shopping at a goldsmith’s shop. Mangalsutra worth Rs 50,000 have been confiscated from them and two cases of theft in the jewellery shop have been detected.

The arrested women were identified as Jyotsna Suraj Kachhvai (31), a resident near VIT College, Upper Indiranagar, Bibwewadi and Bhagyashree Chandrakant Jeur (29), a resident of Bharatnagar, Katraj. Kachhvai and Jeur had stolen the Mangalsutra of Rs 50,000 in the pretext of buying it. Police are investigating the case further.

Both were spotted on Pune-Satara road. Police personnel Pramod Bhosale, Purushottam Gunla and Dayanand Telange Patil, who were patrolling the area, got information about the theft. After that, both were taken into custody by setting a trap. At that time in interrogation, it was revealed that both of them had stolen jewelery from Dattawadi and Sangvi area under the pretext of buying it. Earlier, 22 cases have been registered against Kachhvai for stealing the jewellery.

The action was taken by Sub-Inspector Swapnil Lohar, Chandrakant Kamthe, Kundan Shinde, Raju Jadhav and Amit Surve under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Abhay Mahajan and Crime Branch Inspector Vijay Khamane.
