Pune, 21st April 2024: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has mandated that all universities commence the new academic year for colleges in the first week of August. Universities will be required to initiate college activities during this timeframe.

The academic calendar faced disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To realign university academic sessions, it has been stipulated to commence pre-degree course classes punctually. Universities have been urged by the UGC to publish their academic calendars well in advance to facilitate this process.

This directive aims to ensure the timely completion of educational activities in institutes and affiliated colleges. Additionally, the UGC has instructed universities to announce the results of previous degree classes by the end of June as part of the effort to restore the academic session schedule.

Recently, the UGC issued instructions to expedite the admission process across all universities and higher educational institutions. The Commission has granted an additional two weeks to account for project work and internships in professional courses. Moreover, the UGC has recommended commencing postgraduate classes alongside undergraduate degrees.
