Pune: Unannounced Demolition Of Shops In Viman Nagar Draws Outrage From Owners

Viman Nagar, 18th October 2023: Shop owners near the well-known Farmaaish bar in Viman Nagar were left in shock and disbelief today when their establishments were razed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). According to these local business owners, they received no prior notice of the demolition.
One aggrieved shop owner stated, “Had they given us even a 24-hour notice, we could have prepared ourselves.” Another added, “They claim to have sent us a notice, but it never reached us.”
Many of the shop owners report significant losses, estimated to be up to 4 lakhs, due to the destruction of walls, chairs, pavements, and other infrastructure. As for future plans, they remain uncertain. For the moment, the primary concern is recouping their substantial losses.
