Undri, 28th August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated the process to develop a public garden in Mouje Undri, covering portions of Survey No. 4 and 21 in Haveli taluka. The move follows repeated requests from local residents, elected representatives, and civic officials.

Earlier this year, the Mohammadwadi-Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation submitted an application to the PMC Garden Department, seeking the creation of a community garden.

Following a site inspection, the Garden Department confirmed that the earmarked amenity space, measuring about 12,635.86 sq. meters, is suitable for development. The plot already has a boundary wall and an approach road, making it feasible for public use. With no major garden in the vicinity, the project is expected to provide much-needed green space for the growing population in the area.

Sunil Iyer, a long-time resident and member of the Mohammadwadi-Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation, said, “I have been living in Undri for 20 years. In this time, there has only been construction of buildings with little civic development. We have lacked drinking water and even a place to walk. Now that a garden is coming up, it feels like a positive sign. I hope it is completed soon.”

The proposal has been forwarded to the Amenity Space Committee for approvals. Junior Engineer Vishal Pathak, Deputy Engineer Amit Shete, and Chief Garden Superintendent Dr. Ashok Ghorpade have collectively submitted the plan for further action.
