Pune University Campus Gripped by Violence Again; Another Student Hospitalized After Clash

Pune, 2nd April 2024: Tension flared yet again within the premises of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) as another altercation unfolded, leaving a student hospitalized with a head injury. The incident, which occurred at the SPPU Skill Development Center, was sparked by a minor disagreement between two students. What commenced as a verbal dispute swiftly escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the altercation, one student sustained severe injuries to the head after being struck with a hard object. Senior Police Inspector Ajay Kulkarni of Chaturshringi Police Station revealed that the injured student has been admitted to Sassoon General Hospital for medical treatment. However, despite the severity of the incident, no formal complaint has been lodged with the police as of yet.

This incident follows closely after another altercation at the university, where a student was assaulted after a disagreement over sharing political content on social media. A case was registered at Chaturshringi Police Station in response, highlighting a worrying trend of increasing tensions within the academic setting.
