Pune University Facing Financial Crunch, Looks For New Income Sources
Pune, January 30, 2021: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is facing a financial crunch due to a revenue deficit caused by COVID-19 restriction and lockdown.
Recently, the management council reviewed the University’s financial situation in which it was found that there is a vast difference between income and expenditures of the University. The monetary funds are already cut by 50% percent, i.e., 300 crores from 600 crores. It has impacted the economic activities of the University. The council has advised the SPPU to cut down the expenses allotted for the development of affiliated colleges and look for new sources for revenue generation in the upcoming period.
However, the council members also said that the University must ensure that there should not be a lack of funds for students’ welfare and various research projects.
