Pune, 1st May 2026: In a significant relief for students struggling to complete their graduation, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced a final opportunity for students to clear their pending backlog subjects from their final and pre-final academic years and successfully obtain their degrees.

According to an official public notice issued on April 30 by Prof. Dr. Prabhakar Desai, In-charge Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation, the application process for these special backlog examinations will commence on May 11, 2026.

The university administration stated that the preparations to open the exam forms are currently in their final stages. Before the forms go live, university officials are meticulously verifying several crucial administrative details. This includes mapping subject equivalences, checking the number of previous opportunities already availed by the students, reviewing any related grievances or complaints, and clearing any sub-judice (pending legal) matters.

To ensure the smooth execution of this initiative, the university has issued strict directives to all affiliated colleges and recognized institutions. College administrations have been instructed to proactively reach out to the eligible students and their parents to disseminate information about this upcoming process.

Dr. Desai emphasized that colleges must take utmost care to provide clear guidance so that students do not face any confusion regarding the application procedure or their eligibility.

This decision, authorized by the University’s Board of Authorities, serves as a vital lifeline for many students whose academic degrees have been stalled due to uncleared subjects in the concluding years of their college education.
