Pune University Overtakes 200 Educational Institutions In QS World University Rankings In Last Two Years

Pune, 9th June 2021: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has been ranked in the 591-600 bracket in the prestigious QS World University Ranking 2022 of world-class educational institutions.

As per the rankings announced today, 1300 educational institutions from all over the world had registered and 35 from India have been selected.

The Times Higher Education Asia Ranking was recently announced. Savitribai Phule Pune University has been ranked among the top 200 educational institutions. In addition, Pune University is now in the top 600 globally.

“In 2020, the university was ranked at 800+ bracket. In the last two years, we have moved up 200 places and the university has earned the honour of being a prestigious university. This ranking has strengthened our claim for the Institution of Eminence,” said Prafulla Pawar, Registrar Savitribai Phule Pune University.

A few years back, SPPU had failed to get the Institute of Eminence tag from the Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development because of QS World University Rankings. Since then, Pune University had decided to participate in the rankings.

“We look forward to the rankings being released every year. We have tremendous potential. We have restructured many things in the new education policy”, said Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University.
