Pune University Ranked In Group Of 600 to 800 Universities In Times Higher Education Ranking
Pune, 13th October 2022: In ‘The Times Higher Education 2023’ ranking, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has been ranked in the 601 to 800 group, gaining the latest position by 200.
The ranking of ‘The Times Higher Education’ is published every year after evaluating many universities and educational institutions in the world.
In the year 2023, the ranking of 1,799 universities was announced by evaluating more than 2,000 universities in 104 countries of the world. In this evaluation, criteria such as teaching, research, knowledge dissemination, and participation at the international level are checked.
The number of foreign students in the university was affected due to the fear of disease, international travel etc. during the covid period. But now after Covid, the situation is back to normal and the university has regained its position.

2020: 601-800
2021: 601-800
2022: 801-1000
2023: 601-800
Dr Karbhari Kale, Vice Chancellor, SPPU said, “The efforts of the researchers, professors and all the employees of the university in raising the ranking of Savitribai Phule Pune University is a community contribution. A plan has been prepared for the future course of the university and everyone has started efforts to achieve the future goals. I am sure that the university will make similar progress in the future as well.”
Dr Sanjeev Sonawane, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SPPU said, “I think this is an acknowledgement of the university’s work. This is the result of the hard work of the professors, students, previous vice-chancellors, authority boards, and colleagues in the administration who have done extensive research work in the university. We are all striving to make more progress in the future.”
