Pune, 29th March 2025: Commuters in Pune can expect some relief from traffic congestion as one side of the flyover on Ganesh Khind Road, connecting Bremen Chowk to E-Square, will be opened for traffic on May 1. The remaining work, which extends towards Baner and Raj Bhavan, is scheduled for completion by August, ensuring a smoother traffic flow in the area.

Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole shared this update during a press conference, where he also discussed several key issues raised during the recent budget session.

“Opening one side of the flyover will significantly ease congestion on this busy stretch. The complete flyover will be ready by August, bringing much-needed relief to daily commuters,” said Shirole.

Healthcare and Sassoon Hospital Reforms
Shirole also emphasized the need for administrative changes at Sassoon Hospital to improve healthcare services. Additionally, he announced an increase in subsidy for patients suffering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS).

“Health Minister Prakash Abitkar has assured an increase in financial aid for GBS patients, raising the subsidy to ₹2 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana,” he said.
Citywide CCTV Policy to Be Finalized Soon
A comprehensive policy for CCTV surveillance in Pune will be formulated within a month, addressing gaps in quality and maintenance of existing cameras.

“Currently, Pune has around 10,000 CCTV cameras operated by multiple agencies, including the police, municipal corporation, and metro. However, there is inconsistency in camera quality and maintenance. An additional 10,000 cameras are required to enhance citywide surveillance. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured that a unified policy will be in place soon,” Shirole stated.

Push for Pune-Mumbai Economic Corridor Authority
Highlighting Mumbai’s rapid development and the ongoing construction of the Navi Mumbai International Airport, Shirole stressed the need for a Pune-Mumbai Economic Corridor Authority to facilitate regional economic growth.
