Pune University to get Industry 4.0 Experience Centre

Pune, 1 August 2020: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Research Park Foundation and C4i4 Lab Pune has signed an MOU to set up Industry 4.0 Experience Centre at SPPU Campus. Industry 4.0 enables the transformation of traditional manufacturing and industrial practises using the latest smart technology. This centre at SPPU will help the industry understand various technologies and relevance for their operations.

Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Vice-Chancellor Pune University, Industrialist Mr Rahul Kirloskar, Dr N S Umarani, Pro Vice-Chancellor Pune University, Dr Arvind Shaligram CEO of SPPU Research Park Foundation, Mr D S Navalgundkar CEO of C4i4 Lab, Dr Pooja Doshi, Coordinator of Design Innovation Center-SPPU and Dr Apoorva Palkar-Director Innovation at SPPU were present on this occasion.

While speaking on this occasion Dr Karmalkar stressed that COVID-19 has created a lot of opportunities for multi-disciplinary development programs touching different fields of Science & Technology. He also stressed the need for industry-academia interaction to solve complex issues.

Rahul Kirloskar highlighted that such centres bring opportunity for young minds for developing innovative solutions to the challenges that industry is facing.

Giving more information about this, Dr Shaligram said that Industry 4.0 is an important digital technology of the future. As per the Memorandum of Understanding with C4I4, training in this technology will be provided free of cost to the professors of Pune University. And also the Center will offer one-year fellowships to two postgraduate or PhD students of the university. Based on this fellowship, the students will be able to work in this centre.

C4i4 Lab Pune is a section 8 company set up under SAMARTH Udyog program of Government of India to promote adoption of Industry 4.0 by the industry.
