Pune, 28th September 2021: To prevent misuse of the mark sheet, a photo of the concerned student will be printed on it. A proposal submitted in this regard has been approved in the Senate of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). The two-day session of the Senate concluded on Sunday.

Senate member Abhishek Boke has presented the proposal before the Senate. It was unanimously approved. Also, the ideal choice of a student’s photo was discussed.

According to Mahesh Kakade, director of board of examinations and evaluations, a pilot run was already done of printing certificates with the photographs for a small section of management students. It will take some time to ramp up laser printers and make changes in the design of the certificate before issuing them to lakhs of students.

The Senate also discussed various proposals including reduction of fees, maintenance and repair of hostels, open-book exams, sports complexes, installation of a statue of Savitribai and audit-related issues.

SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar also informed that the buildings on the university campus did not have completion certificates, making it difficult to install elevators. The Chancellor, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, himself has taken note of this and instructed the concerned authorities to meet the legal requirements and get permission to install 19 lifts in the university. The lifts will be operational in the next two months.
