Pune University To Set Up Mathematics Museum To Teach Kids Maths Through Games

Pune, 27th January 2022: On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day, Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Dr Nitin Karmalkar announced that ‘Mathematics Museum’ will be set up on the campus.

Earlier, the SPPU had set up Science Park to inculcate love for science among children from an early age.

Dr Karmalkar said that students from class IV to XII will be taught mathematics through games at this museum. “The concept came from the Prime Minister’s Office with the financial support of Baba Kalyani of Bharat Forge Company”, he informed.

A flag hoisting ceremony was held on the campus yesterday on the occasion of 73rd and Republic Day. At this time, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr N.S. Umrani, Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar, Management Council Member Rajesh Pandey, Dean Dr Parag Kalkar, Head of Innovation Center Apoorva Palkar, etc. were present.

Various awards given by the university were announced on this occasion. The best college awards include Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Pharmacy, Nashik’s Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj Karmaveer Shantarambapu Kondaji Wavare Art, Science and Commerce College, Pravara Rural Education Society’s Padmashri Vikhe Patil College of Art, Science and Commerce. The award was also announced to the SPPU’s Department of Atmospheric and Space Sciences.
