Pune: Unnati Avenue Struggles With Sewage Overflow On Roads, Residents Claim No Help Received From Corporation

Pune, 29th November 2022: The newly added villages of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) lack public amenities. One of them is a sewerage system. Unnati Avenue’s sewage is currently pouring out onto the road, greatly complicating matters for the other residents.

The locals claim they are tired of whining to the municipal corporation about it. The civic body has not done anything about it, they claim. Members contend that a lack of drainage lines in the village is to blame for this issue, despite claims to the contrary made by the local PMC sanitary inspector.

Due to the society’s proximity to the major road, vehicles travelling between Phursungi and Katraj must also use that route. This route is also used by many large vehicles to get from Katraj to Solapur or Baramati. According to a resident, the issue has persisted for seven months and has been challenging for residents who can only go home by taking this route. The community has about 100 bungalows. “Although we reported to the PMC about the issue, nothing has occurred,” the resident stated.

Other residents have also claimed that the issue was raised with the Municipal Corporation on various occasions, but no initiatives have been taken.
