Pune, 6th March 2026: In a major breakthrough, the Vishrambaug Police have arrested a 23-year-old criminal from Uttar Pradesh who had turned into a serial burglar in Pune. The police have recovered gold and silver jewelry valued at approximately ₹62 lakh, solving at least five burglary cases across the city.

The arrest follows a burglary case (FIR 11/2026) registered at the Vishrambaug Police Station under Sections 305(a) and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Under the guidance of DCP (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale and Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Kasbe, a dedicated team led by Assistant Police Inspector Rajesh Usgaonkar began tracking the suspects.

The team, including officials Ashish Kharat and Anis Shaikh, analyzed extensive CCTV footage from across Pune. They tracked the suspects to a lodge near the Pune Railway Station. Although the suspects briefly fled to another state, the police maintained a month-long vigil, utilizing undercover informants and constant surveillance.

On February 23, 2026, acting on a tip-off that the suspects had returned to Pune and were positioned near the Omkareshwar Temple to commit another crime, the police cordoned off the area and apprehended two individuals.

The arrested accused have been identified as:
Akash Subhash (23): A resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, currently staying in Delhi.
Jitendra Chaturvedi (32): A resident of Delhi.

DCP Rawale said, “During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crimes. They revealed that they had hidden stolen jewelry at a lodge near the railway station and in parts of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. A police team was dispatched to these locations, resulting in the recovery of:
Gold: 406.31 grams
Silver: 191.9 grams
Electronics: A laptop and two mobile phones.”

The primary accused, Akash Subhash, is a hardened criminal with a history of violent crimes in Uttar Pradesh. He is linked to the “Sunny Gang” and has five major cases registered against him in Ghaziabad, including:
