Pune: Vimantal Police Station’s Officer Caught Taking Rs 1 Lakh Bribe

Lohegaon, 8th September 2021: The sleuths from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) today caught an assistant police inspector (API) of Pune city police and his accomplice red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh.

According to ACB, there is a cheating case registered against the 22-year-old complainant’s father. API Rahul Ashok Patil (33) of Vimantal police station allegedly demanded Rs five lakh to help the complainant’s father get bail in the case. After negotiation, the amount was brought down to Rs three lakh.

Today, API Patil’s accomplice Santosh Bhaurao Khandve (45) of Lohegaon was caught red-handed while accepting Rs one lakh bribe money in Lohegaon.

The process of registration of FIR for offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act against API Patil and Khandve is going on.

The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (ACB) Rajesh Bansode, Additional SPs Suraj Gurav and Suhas Nadgouda. The team included Police Inspectors Sunil Kshirsagar, Sandeep Varhade, and police personnel Ankush Mane, Dinesh Mane, Pooja Pagire and Raut.
