Pune, 8th September 2021: The Maharashtra state government has approved payment of land acquisition to farmers on the lines of the Samriddhi highway.

Maharashtra state road development corporation (MSRDC) has taken up ring road work to break traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad area. The state government approved this project in 2015 only.

Accordingly, work is being carried out by MSRDC in the manner of a survey for the ring road, approval of corridors, counting of route space, etc. However, it had not been yet decided to provide funds from the state government if land acquisition for the ring road was to be done.

Until the project gets the approval of the infrastructure committee, the budget cannot provide for land acquisition. Both the phases of the ring road were approved at the infrastructure committee meeting.

MSRDC sub-divisional officer Sandeep Patil said this has removed the hurdle of providing funds for land acquisition.

An increase of 25 per cent will be admissible for incentives on the land rates fixed for land acquisition to farmers who give land for the ring road on their own. This means, Patil said, that farmers will get compensation five times the land rate.
