Viman Nagar, March 5, 2025: A viral image circulating on social media has reignited concerns over unauthorized encroachments in Viman Nagar, raising alarms among corporate offices and local businesses. The image shows an individual crossing the boundary of a company working on sensitive projects, sparking widespread discussions about lax municipal enforcement and the growing safety risks posed by illegal structures in the area.

Despite repeated complaints from businesses, professionals, and residents, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has failed to take decisive action, allowing encroachments to persist. Local activists have highlighted multiple complaint references, including tokens T52534, T55591, T55710, T56372, and T56170, yet no concrete measures have been implemented. Instead, encroachment officers reportedly close tickets without follow-up, leaving citizens and businesses to fend for themselves.

Key Concerns Raised:
Unauthorized structures and obstructions: Encroachments, including a permanent temple extending onto private property, have restricted access and hindered essential maintenance work for corporate offices.
Fire hazards: Vendors operating illegally in the vicinity use LPG cylinders dangerously close to electrical transformers, increasing the risk of catastrophic fires.
Security vulnerabilities: Unauthorized individuals frequently trespass into corporate spaces, raising fears of potential data breaches and safety threats
Viman Nagar has emerged as a key business hub, with companies like TransUnion, Snowflake, and Tesla operating in the area. However, unchecked encroachments not only pose risks to businesses but also raise serious concerns about governance and accountability.

Social activists, including Ravi Kumar, criticize PMC’s inaction, stating that the civic body merely issues complaint numbers without taking concrete steps. “PMC provides the name of the encroachment officer and asks complainants to handle it themselves, instead of taking responsibility,” said Kumar.

With growing frustration among corporates and residents, businesses are urging PMC to act swiftly before the situation worsens.
