Pune, 15th January 2024: Goon Vitthal Shelar (36), a resident of Mulshi, has been apprehended in connection with the murder of another goon Sharad Mohal. Notably, Shelar was previously appointed as the Pune BJP youth president by the then Guardian Minister Girish Bapat in the presence of Pune BJP president Bala Begde.

A native of Mulshi village, Shelar has a history of involvement in criminal activities, including cases related to murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and extortion. In 2014, he faced arrest under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). Following his release on bail in 2017, Shelar joined the BJP and was appointed as the Pune city youth president. The then Guardian Minister, Girish Bapat, faced criticism for the association, clarifying that he was unaware of the criminal charges against Shelar. Bapat assured that the party would take appropriate action in response.

Sharad Mohol’s wife had joined BJP last year.
