Pashan, 7th May 2026: Amid growing traffic congestion and rising safety concerns in Pashan, citizen-led civic initiative Voice of Pashan is set to organise a Traffic Etiquette Awareness Drive on May 10 at 6 pm at Balaji Mandir Lane on Pashan Sus Road.

The initiative comes in response to worsening traffic conditions in the area, including chaotic parking and frequent traffic violations that have made daily commuting increasingly difficult and, at times, unsafe for residents and commuters.

Balaji Mandir Lane and nearby areas have emerged as major hotspots for traffic mismanagement in Pashan. Residents report daily incidents of illegal and haphazard parking, signal violations, wrong-side driving, and blocked narrow lanes. These issues not only disrupt traffic flow but also hinder access for emergency vehicles and increase risks for pedestrians. Peak-hour congestion has become a routine problem for those living in and travelling through the area.

Residents say the issue goes beyond individual behaviour and points to larger systemic gaps. The absence of clearly designated parking zones, inadequate No Parking signage, and the limited presence of traffic wardens have contributed to the worsening situation. Despite repeated concerns raised by citizens, enforcement on the ground has remained inconsistent, leading to growing indiscipline and safety risks.

While the awareness drive aims to encourage civic responsibility and better traffic discipline, residents emphasised that awareness alone will not solve the problem. They stressed the need for stronger enforcement and proper infrastructure support from authorities to bring about long-term improvement.

“Citizens are stepping up to do their part, but without consistent enforcement and infrastructure support from the authorities, the situation will not improve. Awareness must be matched with action on the ground,” members of Voice of Pashan said.

The Traffic Etiquette Awareness Drive will be held near Sirvi Medical at Balaji Mandir Lane, Pashan Sus Road, Pune – 411021.

The initiative aims to spread awareness about traffic rules and civic responsibility, highlight the urgent need for proper parking infrastructure, encourage safer commuting practices, and push for stronger enforcement and accountability from civic and traffic authorities.

Voice of Pashan has appealed to residents, citizens, and volunteers to participate in the drive and support efforts to create safer and more disciplined roads. Organisers believe community participation will play a key role in amplifying the message and building momentum for long-term improvements.
