Pune: ‘Voters Are Now Coming to Meet the Candidate,’ Says Amol Balwadkar as Campaign Gains Momentum
Baner, 8th January 2026: With the Pune Municipal Corporation elections approaching, candidate Amol Balwadkar said the nature of campaigning is witnessing a visible shift, with voters themselves taking the lead in the election process. He said the growing public outreach reflects trust built over years of consistent work rather than conventional election publicity.
“Elections are now in the hands of the people. I continue to visit voters, but in many places, citizens themselves are coming forward to meet me. This is not just an election campaign; it feels like a people-driven movement based on trust,” Balwadkar said, expressing gratitude for the support he has been receiving.
Over the past few days, residents from various localities, housing society representatives, youth groups, women’s collectives, trader associations and senior citizens have been meeting Balwadkar in large numbers. He said there have been several instances where people gathered even before his arrival at a location, while many others called to say they wished to come and meet him personally.
“The energy and affection I am receiving cannot be put into words,” he said, adding that the response is the result of 11 years of continuous public service. “People standing firmly behind someone who works for them is the true essence of democracy,” Balwadkar remarked.
He further said the support should not be seen as personal praise but as a mandate for the future of the ward. “This backing is not about honouring an individual. It reflects people’s expectations for development. Citizens want work on the ground, and I see myself as someone committed to delivering development,” he said.
Balwadkar said he reiterates three commitments in every interaction with citizens — open communication, transparency and action-oriented governance. Expressing confidence ahead of the polls, he said voters in Ward No. 9 would deliver a decisive mandate in favour of the candidates contesting on the clock symbol.
Party workers said the increasing direct participation of citizens in campaign activities indicates strong public engagement and could influence the electoral dynamics in the ward.
