Pune, 15th November 2024: In a bid to encourage higher voter participation, Pune district is introducing an innovative initiative where voters will receive a digital certificate after casting their votes in the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections on 20th November. Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase announced that voters will be able to obtain their certificates by scanning a QR code available at polling stations.

This initiative is part of the Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, aimed at raising voter awareness and boosting voter turnout. The certificate, seen as a symbol of pride, is expected to motivate citizens to exercise their right to vote.

The process to receive the certificate is simple: voters need to scan a QR code displayed on a sticker at the polling station, fill in the required details in the online form, and upload a selfie showing the ink-marked finger. The certificate will then be emailed to the voter.

Dr. Diwase has encouraged all eligible voters to actively participate in the democratic process and cast their votes on 20th November, stressing the importance of this initiative in promoting electoral participation and civic pride.
