Pune, 17th November 2022: Wafers and noodles will no longer be sold in Sinhagad, it has been decided. The unlawful stalls will also be taken down and renovated to resemble a food mall. Within a month, the food vendors currently spread out from bottom to top will be gathered under one roof. There will be a removal of all small and large stalls that are obstructing visitor parking.

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has directed the hotel owners near the fort to remove their encroachment within the next four days, and 71 market vendors will be relocated to the area surrounding the “Open Theatre” close to the rest house. Large numbers of food items, such as noodles and wafers, were being sold throughout the store at the fort.

Tourists began littering and discarding food packaging throughout the fort, which led to an increase in plastic garbage.

The sellers have been ordered by the forest department to stop selling foods packaged in plastic. When visiting the fort, vendors should only bring milk bags and plastic bottles. Additionally, if they are seen littering or carrying plastic bags, tourists will be fined.
