Pune: Wagholi Needs Alternative Route To Beat Daily Traffic Jam, BJP Warns Of Agitation
Wagholi, 23rd September 2021: There is a daily traffic jam in the Wagholi area. Therefore, commuters have to spend valuable time on the road. The citizens of Wagholi have demanded an alternative route to beat the traffic jam.
“If no measures are taken, there will be intense agitation”, warned by Pune BJP’s General Secretary Sandeep Satav.
He added, “People thought that their woes will be resolved after inclusion of Wagholi in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune police commissionerate. However, nothing seems to be happening on the ground.”
Pune-Ahmednagar Highway work is underway in the Wagholi area and there is a risk of accidents in many places as the contractor has done partial work.
According to locals, the traffic jam will be resolved only after the encroachment on both sides of the road from Khandvenagar to Katkewadi on the highway is removed. As the footpaths have encroached at Wagheshwar Chowk, Avhalwadi Chowk and Kesnand Chowk, pedestrians walk on the road, which adds to the traffic jam. At Avhalwadi Fata, Kesnand Fata, autorickshaws carrying passengers illegally are parked haphazardly. This also adds to the traffic jam.
Traffic Branch Police Sub Inspector Jayant Patil said that correspondence has been made with the concerned department as the road is partially under construction. Once the traffic signal is set up, we will take punitive action against those who park vehicles on the road.
